louise potvinDr. Potvin is Professor in the department of social and preventive medicine at Université de Montréal. She holds a PhD in community health and has done extensive work on evaluating community health programs. Dr. Potvin holds the CHSRF/CIHR chair on Community Approaches to Inequalities in Healthcare. She is leading a program of education and research into how people's health is shaped by social circumstances and how public health programs can affect the health of socially disadvantaged people.

Dr. Potvin was a member of the WHO Working Group on the evaluation of health promotion. She has also participated in several Federal-Provincial-Territorial committees concerning population health. She is a globally elected member of the Board of Trustees of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
