Title

Ivy BourgeaultNetworking Population Health Researchers to Improve the Health of Ontarians

Summary

The Population Health Improvement Research Network (PHIRN) was established in September 2009 as one of the key elements of its new Applied Health Research Network Initiative (AHRNI). Since this time, PHIRN has begun to network population health researchers across Ontario with the objective of undertaking more and better research that connects with a range of knowledge users and policy decision-makers. PHIRN focuses on issues of health equity and how we can intervene at the population health level to address disparities and improve the health of Ontarians. As the Scientific Director of PHIRN, Dr. Bourgeault will describe some of the key networking activities, some notable findings emerging from the equity and intervention research programs and the innovative knowledge exchange strategies employed by the network.
